  • Issue#578458: Lenovo - ThinkPad E540 & Synaptic Touchpad Windows 10 drivers

I am having problems with a Lenovo ThinkPad E540 and the Synaptic Touchpad driver in Windows 10 64 Bit. What is happening is the cursor is showing with a vertical scroll rather than just the standard windows arrorw and I am unable to remove it. I have tried a number of different drivers 19.0.17.2, but this just auto updates to 19.0.17.27. I have also downloaded the recommended driver from the Lenovo Support website which is version, 19.0.10.0 and again it updates to 19.0.17.27. I have managed to leave the laptop with just 19.0.17.2 installed and stop the 19.0.17.27 from downloading via windows update, but this only lasted a few weeks and I had the same issue. I have also uninstalled Synaptic software and remove it from device manager, however after rebooting it installs again. Can anyone help and supply solution to this annoying mouse issue?

I hope somebody can help me with this problem I have with my Thinkpad Yoga 15 (20DQ001KUS).I have upgraded it to windows 10 and all was running fine in the beginning but now I received ‘the blue screen’ all the time and  the computer does not restart normally after it. • Issue#21038: Lenovo - Persistent System Freeze Issue on Newly Upgraded SSD on Windows 10 Y510P

I purchased the MYDIGITALSSD M.2 256GB SSD to replace the 24GB M.2 that originally came with my Y510P. I completed the upgrade and re-installed Windows 10 (on the ssd) and use the 1TB drive purely as storage, and re-downloaded all of the necessary drivers for the laptop. Ever since then, i experience 3-4 system freezes daily. I am not able to get to task manager, just get a complete system hang and i have no choice but to restart the pc. It typically starts with one application, then after a few seconds, everything will freeze and become unusable. Does anyone have any advice on this? i read about someone having a similar issue a really long time ago but i cant remember where and can't find any info on this specific problem. It's driving me crazy though and i'd appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips offered. thanks everyone. -Daniel

  • Issue#42011: [GUIDE] Installing Xubuntu 14.04 on Lenovo Thinkpad E540

I wrote this installation guide some years ago (6 Nov 2014), but had to move it. I think this is a good place to repost it for future references. I decided to write this small guide as I figured out that more people may want to install (X)ubuntu on their E540. The bottom line is: you have a well running dual-boot Linux/Windows system out of the box, but there are a few steps to be taken to fix some basic functionality. Before you begin Before installing Linux next to Windows, take the usual steps. The E540 is installed with Windows 8.1 by default, so setup and configure your Windows, install and update drivers, optimise your SSD if any, etc. When you are perfectly happy, download the Xubuntu image to an USB key. I am not sure if a DVD would work well, as booting from the DVD drive requires you to disable UEFI and Secure Boot, possibly complicating dual-booting to Windows after the installation. Of course it is possible to remove Windows altogether as well, but I find it conveni

Hi, i bought my ThinkPad E540 about a year ago. When i came back from a trip, where i left my ThinkPad plugged in at my Desk, i noticed when i remove the Power cable from my ThinkPad then the Labtob immediately was switched off (no shutdown sequence, instant power off).So far i had no Problems with the Battery. So i restarted and saw that that on Linux it said "Not charging", but it recognized the battery, which is weird. So i booted my windows and the Lenovo Tool said that the battery would be defect and i had to get a new one.So i did. However the same problem appears. The new battery came a 100% charged and is recognized by the notebook. But as soon as i remove the power chord it shuts off af there would be no battery at all.I unplugged the CMOS Battery over night, resetted BIOS to default, I also removed the power chord and the battery and held down the power button for 60secs but nothing solved this problem. I does not seem to make a difference which OS because already at b

Hi A small has developed on the bottom edge of the bezel, in the centre, directly below the Windows button. The laptop hasn't been dropped or banged. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, did it get worse or cause any other issues?  Will my warranty be affected if I have a future issue, and it's considered that there is existing damage? Thanks Rob

  • Issue#74300: Lenovo - Pen calibration on a ThinkPad X220 Tablet (GorillaGlass version) with Windows 10

Hi, Yesterday I bought a used X220 Tablet - the version with Gorilla Glass - and installed Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) on it.What a great little computer this is! But what disappointed me was the lack of precision of the pen that came with the tablet. Unfortunately I could not find a setting - or program - to calibrate the pen. On this forum I learned that a lot of owners have to deal with a pen that is not accurate. On one of the posts I read it was mentioned that the digitizer in the X220 Tablet is made by Wacom, so I went their website for a recent drivers. Luckily, I soon found an appropriate tool, the Wacom Hardware Check, on ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/WacomHardwareCheck.exe . After downloading and running it, I was told:"You have hardware that is compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver. You can download the latest driver here: http://www.wacom.com/feeldriver " The URL led to a file on http://cdn.wacom.com/u/drivers/TabletPC/ISD_D

  • Issue#83472: Lenovo - Thinkpad W530 & Windows 10 & Ricoh SD reader drivers & high CPU load - any real solution av

Hello. I've read a lot of complaints about different Thinkpad models having a high CPU load issue caused by the Ricoh SD reader driver, even with earlier Windows versions 8 & 8.1. I figured out the root cause with Process Explorer. With the newest driver I still have the issue coming occasionally, usually after putting the computer to sleep a couple of times. The only way to cure this is to reboot or to uninstall the Ricoh driver, which is not desirable, as I do need the reader from time to time. Has anyone figured out a real solution...? Lenovo, please do something...?

  • Issue#107845: Lenovo - Downgrading to Windows 7 Pro from Windows 10 on ThinkPad 11e

Several months ago I purchased a ThinkPad 11e that came loaded with Windows 10.  I absolutely do not like Windows 10 but I am very comfortable with Windows 7 Pro, which is what I recently upgraded to on my desktop PC from Windows XP.  I read through the Understanding downgrade rights on Microsoft's website.  Is it my understanding that I can downgrade my ThinkPad 11e to Windows 7, even though it had previously never been installed with it?  I have a Windows 7 Pro DVD that I used to install it on my desktop and I thought I read somewhere that I could get the product key for Windows 10 from the BIOS in my ThinkPad to try and activate Windows 7.  Am I reading it right on Microsoft's website that my Windows 10 product key can be used to downgrade and activate a fresh Windows 7 installation?

  • Issue#113375: Lenovo - Issue with Windows Recovery / wrong disks

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E530 with Windows 7. It was acting a little slow, so I wanted to do a clean reinstall of Windows.  It wasn't having any other major problems. I paid Lenovo for a recovery disk. I ran the recovery disks.  It asked me for a product key which I did not have.  I contacted Customer Support who told me I wasn't under warranty and they couldn't help.  I contacted Sales.  They discovered they had sent me Windows 8 recovery disks.  They sent me Windows 7 recovery disks the next day. I turned my computer on and it was asking for the product key again.  I tried to get into the startup utility program by pressing F1, F12, F2, F10, delete repeatedly.  None of them would let me get into the startup utility program.  I turned the computer off again (full shut down). When I turned my computer on again, I have a blue screen saying "Recovery" and "Your PC needs to be repaired" and "You'll need to use the

  • Issue#113845: Lenovo - Windows 10 on Lenovo ThinkPad L512? Possible or not?

Hi! Windows 7 on my ThinkPad L512 has been very eager to download and install the fashionable Windows 10 the past 6 months. Since my Win7 installation is beginning to feel rotten, I'd prefer to give a go at installing Win10 rather than reinstalling Win7. But will Windows 10 run on my L512? (I've seen the L512 excluded in a list of supported Lenovo platforms, but what exactly does that mean? Are there no drivers for Win10 and no way of running it at all? Or does it run well but is just not actively supported from Lenovo? Or something in between?) Thanks in advance!
