Issue#374218: Linux - opensuse Leap 42.1 AMD-V failed to open session VirtualBox 5.0.10_SUSE r104061

  • Using Leap 42.1 on and ASUS M5A78L-MUSB3 mother board with AMD FX8320 eight core processor and 16 gigs ram. Installed VirtualBox Graphical User Interface version 5.0.10_SUSE r104061 using YAST without issues.

    After trying to run my first operating system install I get the following message:

    Failed to open a session for the virtual machine “MyTitle”
    AMD-V is disabled in the BIOS (or by the host OS)(VERR_SVM_DISABLED)
    ResultCode: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
    Component:ConsoleWrap
    Interface: Iconsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

    Can not find any setting in the motherboard BIOS covering virtualization.

    Any suggestions on how to deal with this issue would be appreciated.

  • Issue#14046: Linux - openSuse Leap installer gets stuck or doesn't load

    I have been preparing to perform a major upgrade and HDD replacement at the same time. While waiting for the hardware to arrive, I have been downloading and burning all the iso's that I expect to need. I have downloaded the openSuse Leap X86-64 iso twice and the boot from dvd fails at the same place each time. -checksums ok, -media boots and verify media ok when done in a different machine -openSuse 13.2 i586 DVD gets to the partitioning part of the install at which point I bail out. When booting from the Leap x64 DVD there is a green progress bar that runs along the bottom of the screen. It gets stuck when that reaches 100%. I left it for 20 minutes last night just in case it was a bit slow. Does any one know which point in the start up this or is there any way to get some verbose messages up on the screen so that I can see what is happening? At this point I am suspecting that something in my machine does not like 64 bit even though the CPU (Pentium D 820) and chipset (intel

  • Issue#587988: Linux - Some letters missing from Firefox at random times (open SUSE 42.1)

    Hi guys, Since a couple of months ago, when I open Firefox or Thunderbird, some letters are missing from the text displayed on the screen at random times. I am attaching an image so you can know what I mean. It generally goes away after restarting the KDE session and sometimes after closing the web browser and opening it again. BTW, I am not sure whether this affects the whole GUI or only Firefox/Thunderbird (I have forgotten to open other programs when this happens to check). And something else, this does not happen on Windows, so I guess it's not a hardware issue, but some openSUSE bug. In case it's necessary, the hardware is a Lenovo G460 laptop. • Issue#632004: Linux - openSuSE Leap 42.1 static IP address won't ping router; all settings look correct.

    Hello all, I've spent the better part of this day trying to find answers and Google just isn't what it used to be, at least not for me. I have a Lenovo P50 for work, and I put openSuSE on it. I have working WiFi and Ethernet adapters, and can get on the Internet just fine on either as long as I use DHCP. Unfortunately, as I am a network administrator at work, I often need to manually set an IP address for my machine. I did this once this morning, successfully, and was able to administer a small managed 10-port DLink switch. However, I later tried the same methods to administer a Cisco 5508 AP controller and could get nowhere. Thinking it was the controller or my link to it, I reconnected to the production network and gave myself an appropriate address for that subnet, trying different addresses when it didn't work (and verified with nmap ping scan that each one wasn't in use beforehand). Nothing allowed me to ping anything other than localhost. I looked up on Google to make sure

  • Issue#726875: Linux - system failed to save session at shutdown, but retrieved changes after next shutdown - ?!

    I just saw my system do something strange that I can't explain. I shut down, expecting certain changes in my user account (such as the open browser tabs and the contents of the Xfce sticky notes) to be saved, because that always happens. Next time I booted and logged in, I was annoyed to find that the system had disregarded the changes and reverted to what was saved from the previous login. So, probably to see if this would happen again, I made some changes and then shut down, rebooted and logged in. This was the extremely strange part to me: this time, all the lost changes have reappeared. So, everything is fine now, but I am left wondering what happened. Distro: MX 14. Desktop: XFCE 4. [anything else?]

  • Issue#794250: Linux - CurlFtpFS over SSL and Session ID issue

    I am trying to mount a remote FTPS server. The remote server is Filezilla server installed on Windows 2008 server. The mount phase works ok, but if I try to list the mounted files it gives an I/O error. After debugging I noticed the following error in the Filezilla Server log: 450 TLS session of data connection has not resumed or the session does not match the control connection This means that curlftpfs is not using the SSL session ID re-use feature required by filezilla (and an important security feature). I checked curl on the server and it has the feature implemented: curl --help | grep "ID" --no-sessionid Disable SSL session-ID reusing (SSL) So it has control over the feature and, according to manual, the feature is ON by default. Why isn't curlftps using this feature? Can it be turned on somehow? L.E. If I disable the session re-use requirement, everything works ok. But I would really like to have this important security feature.

I have a look on many forums, and they all preconize an issue with dkms. So i have reinstall dkms a lot, even with aptitude, and try to solve the issue reinstalling virtualbox too. Still the same message appears. Anybody has an idea about from same past experience, i can put some code's line.
